Stora Torget

Stora Torget (“The Big Square”) is the heart of the central shopping area. Leading off it is a pedestrianised “main drag” consisting of Svartbäcksgatan, running northwest to S:t Olafsgatan and the City Library, and Kungsängsgatan running southeast as far as Bangårdsgatan.

The two remaining streets, Vaksalagatan, running northeast across Dragarbrunnsgatan, and Drottninggatan, running southwest across the river, have vehicular traffic limited to busses.

Directions

Stora Torget is the origin for all of the directions given on this site. Nevertheless, directions from Centralstation might be useful.

With your back to the Centralstation at Olof Palmes Plats, go southwest down Bangårdsgatan for two blocks (~200m), then turn right at Kungsängsgatan (pedestrianised) and walk three blocks northeast (~200m). Stora Torget has an easily recognisable streetlight with five lights (virtually identical to the “Five Lamps” in Dublin). Total distance: ~400m.
